Our updates, reflections and stories from our church community

First Food & Fellowhip – 25 January 2026

Last Sunday our church held our first Food & Fellowship session – it was a full house! In spite of the heat, the team outside (‘Ofa, Misi, Lana and Stuart) put in great effort over the BBQ. With a nice spread of salads and a great punch, we had a very successful lunch, welcoming a few new visitors and reconnecting with some familiar faces.

As we continue holding these Food & Fellowship gatherings, we hope to better connect with our communities and pursue our church motto: To know Christ, and to make Him known.

Christmas Carols + Luncheon – 14 December 2025

This past Sunday, Kingsgrove West-Bexley held our annual Christmas Carols Service followed by a hearty Christmas Luncheon. We enjoyed a wonderful selection of hymns and festive carols led by our organist Brian Carlin, his daughter Tamara and his granddaughter Chloe.

Many thanks to Brian and his family as well as all who contributed to the tasty spread and season decorations!

Learning about SIM Mission Work in Liberia – 12 October 2025

Last Sunday we were blessed to have guest speaker Warwick Walker join us to share about the inspiring work of SIM Mission in Liberia. Through KWB Uniting’s ongoing partnership over the past few years with the Evangelical Church in Liberia and Pastor Moses Paye, many of us have kept up with the work and growth of the ministry and it was amazing to see photos and hear updates about the amazing work that continues to be done to spread the gospel of Jesus. We also learned about the Healthcare Outreach supported by SIM and how impactful their work has been in providing essential care to rural communities. It was a fascinating and heartfelt presentation, giving us a glimpse into Liberian culture and even Liberian English!

After the talk, we enjoyed a sausage sizzle lunch (special thanks to Stuart, Phil, and Elizabeth!), where we had the change to continue our conversations with Warwick. It was a great time of fellowship and learning – with many taking the opportunity to give towards this mission.

Floral Remembrance Sunday – 28 September 2025

On Floral Remembrance Sunday, our congregation took the opportunity to bring to church a floral arrangement in honour of a family member, a friend or a mentor who is no longer with us. After our service, we all took time to admire the flowers and talk to those that had brought flowers, remembering their loved ones with them.

We give thanks to God for the time He granted us with our loved ones and we recall the many ways they enriched our lives. Though we feel the pain of their absence, we do not grieve without hope. We hold fast to the promise given to us through Jesus Christ: that all who believe will have eternal life.

Farewelling Reverend Tevita Siuhengalu – 7 September 2025

After nearly 15 years of faithful service, our congregation says farewell to our minister Reverend Tevita Siuhengalu. For 14 years, Tevita has led our church with wisdom, compassion and patience. He has celebrated with us in our moments of joys and comforted us in our members’ times of sorrow and need. Through all of this, Tevita has continued to point us back towards God’s love and faithfulness.

His commitment to our church community and ministry has left an enduring mark on each of us. On Sunday, during the farewell service we got a glimpse of just that as we heard from elders in our church including our Treasurer Stuart, Rev Savinata, Tevita’s children Reverend Netane, Taulama, and Lu’isa, and a special video message from the Young People’s group. It was also great to see a packed church with old KWB friends and church members from Tevita’s time as a support minister at Bankstown, Beverly Hills, and Hurstville Uniting Churches.

While we will miss his presence and leadership, we trust that God will continue to use Tevita in ministry, even in this new chapter of retirement. Thank you, Tevita, for your commitment to Kingsgrove-West Bexley – for the countless sermons and services, bible studies, home visits, prayers and conversations !

Sustainability Sunday – 28 July 2025

Last Sunday our congregation celebrated Plastic-Free July with a Sustainability Sunday Brunch! We enjoyed a talk from a director of the Climate Action firm ‘Multicultural Leadership Initiative’, Losena, who shared simple and practical ways we can each make a difference in our lives to do our part to take care of God’s earth. It was inspiring to be reminded about small actions that can have a big impact when we work together.

Thank you to everyone who brought food, helped set up, and stayed to share ideas. It was a joyful and meaningful afternoon.

the biggest morning tea – 21 June 2025

Last week’s ‘Biggest Morning Tea’ was a wonderful time of fun and fellowships as we gathered to support the Cancer Council. The hall was buzzing with conversation and laughter as our congregation + friends came together for a great cause.

There were games and door prizes with plenty of smiles and winners! Thank you to everyone who contributed food, games and donations – together we were able to make a difference. Special shout out to Cheryl for bringing everything together !
